Miss Annamarie
Miss Annamarie is the engaging and patient teacher
for the 3-day Dinosaur Class (4-5 year olds). Below you will find answers
to some very important questions our membership parents and children wanted to know.
When did you begin your career in education?
I began my career in education when I was a teaching
assistant in September 1987. The following year I became a teacher and
took night classes to complete my teaching credential at CSUDH.
When did you start at the Co-Op?
I started as a parent in 1998 in the Dinosaur class.
The following year I began teaching the Teddy Bear class. I took over as
Director in Spring of 2007 (I think, not sure, have to look that up to be sure)
What are your 3 favorite things to do while
not at work?
I like to crochet. I love to read, of course! I
enjoy spending time outdoors with my family and friends.
What do you like most about San Pedro Co-Op?
I like the unique learning environment with parents and children
learning side-by-side. There is nothing as amazing as watching parents’ faces
light up when they see their little one accomplish a milestone, like recognizing
the letters of their name, or riding a bike by themselves, or playing well with
a friend.
What is your favorite food?
Macaroni and cheese! (I wish it was calorie- and fat free!)
What do you think is the reason why San Pedro
Co-Op is a great school?
I think that the school is great because of the type of wonderful
parents that seek out and make this school work. This could not be done
without their full participation.
If you could change one thing about the
Co-Op, what would it honestly be and why?
I wish we could offer free tuition to families that would
like to participate. The price I feel is
great, and we work hard each year to ensure that it says very affordable. I wish we didn't have to worry about money,
though.
Who lives with you?
I live with my husband and 2 boys, Anthony, 16 and Gabriel,
13.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an artist. I get to do some of that
when I think up projects and when I create bulletin boards for the school.
What is your favorite activity / game you
have ever done at the Co-Op?
I love the talent show fundraiser! I really enjoy seeing
and meeting everyone’s extended families. One year a song was made up and sung about
my Dino class. I cried, of course! |
