Miss Becky

Miss Becky is the vivacious dynamic teacher for the 2-day Teddy Bear Class (3-4 year olds).  Below you will find answers to some very important questions that our membership parents and children wanted to know.

When did you begin your career in education?
I started my 1st job as an Assistant Teacher when I was 19, so that was 8 years ago in 2003.

When did you start at the Co-Op?
I began my career at the Co-Op as a Student Teacher through L.A. Harbor College 6 Years ago.

What are your three favorite things to do while not at work?
While not working I like to hang out with my friends and go to the movies and recently I like to go to the YMCA to work out and be healthy.

What do you like most about San Pedro Co-Op?
I love the fact that every family is so involved with their children and their education. When I have children this would be the type of school I would have them attend.

What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is Sushi, can eat it all day everyday!

What do you think is the reason why San Pedro Co-Op is a great school?
The reason is that the families get to be a part of their children’s educational lives and be a part of a Co-Op family and know that they have support from everyone at the school and they get to know one another really well, unlike a drop-off program.

If you could change one thing about the Co-Op, what would it honestly be and why?
I’d have a bigger play yard so the kids would have a larger space to run around not that they can’t and don’t run around like crazy.  I think our play yard, though, is really great.  It has well defined play areas for imaginative play on the ship or in the cottage or the castle.  The concrete path is perfect for riding the trikes and scooters, as well as helping to define the play areas.  The kids love the sandbox and slide, too.  And we can see the whole area easily to supervise the kids.

Who lives with you?
With good ‘ole Mommy and Daddy!

What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a Dolphin Trainer at Sea World. I would even beg my parents to put a pool in so I could have my own Dolphin in my backyard.

What is your favorite activity/game you’ve ever done at the Co-Op?
My favorite activity to do at the Co-Op is the play-dough table. I love smelling what the Kool-aid scent is and the feeling of the play-dough being squished in between my fingers. It still reminds me of being a kid and playing with play-dough at home.  It is so great to watch the kids develop their play-dough molding skills.  They start with pancakes and balls, and then you notice them making spirals and people, and other foods.
Also the water tables are a favorite during those hot sunny days, I even like cooling off and playing in the water and accidentally splashing and getting splashed.
