Philosophy
The philosophy of the
SPCNS has developed out of years of experience. It is an expression
of what our parents have decided is necessary and desirable for our
children. We believe that the primary focus of our school should be
the healthy and happy development of the complete child, i.e., social,
emotional, physical and intellectual.
SPCNS's child-centered
philosophy allows children to learn through play by exploring their
environment at their own developmental pace. Our non-profit school is
founded on the principle that the best education will result from an active
partnership between parent, teachers and children.
SPCNS works to provide
a caring, trusting, and noncompetitive environment in which our children
can flourish as individuals and friends.
What is a
Co-Op?
A parent participation,
or cooperative, nursery school is a democratic organization where each
family shares in the ownership and operation of the school. As
owners, parents participate in the administration and maintenance of the
school by performing job assignments, assisting in the classroom and by
serving on the board of directors.
